Park, Powder and Progression

Trysil Season Pass and Your Own Rail Park

You'll get a season pass to Trysil, Norway's largest ski resort, home to one of the country's best snow parks. Use your pass even outside class!

Our own floodlit rail park is right outside your dorm, with features for all skill levels.

Kick off the season at the indoor ski centre SNØ, and explore the best resorts in Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

Skate, Gymnastics and Fitness

When there's no snow, we focus on strength, fitness, trampolining, wakeboarding, surfing, diving and skateboarding. Practise flips and rotations in a gymnastics hall with a professional trampoline and foam pit.

Ski and Snowboard Films

Filming is a big part of ski and snowboard culture. You'll have access to plenty of camera equipment.

Laax i Sveits

Laax i Sveits er et av Europas beste anlegg, og hoster store internasjonale konkurranser hvert år. Vi bor på 2228 meters høyde, midt i anlegget med  parkene rett utenfor døra. I tillegg er det vanvittige frikjøringsmuligheter når det faller  snø.

LAAX ligger høyt på favorittlistene til verdens beste utøvere. Det er flere parker, som dekker alle nivåer. Elementene prepareres flere ganger daglig, og legger opp til kreativ kjøring. Som back-drop for film og bilder får du endeløse rekker med spisse alpefjell.

LAAX-anlegget ligger spredt over alpelandsbyene Laax, Flims og Falera. Det er høye topper, store fjellsider og skogsområder som legger til rette for å cruise både i og utenfor løypene. Tar du heisen opp til anleggets høyeste punkt på 2551m og kjører til bunnen i Flims får du gode 20-30 minutter sammenhengende kjøring.

Surfetur til Hoddevik

Fantastiske Hoddevik på Stadt er en av Norges hotteste surfedestinasjoner. Her blir det innføring i surf fra rutinerte instruktører, og du kan surfe flere økter hver dag.

Kläppen – Sweden's beste park

We kick off the season early in October with a trip to Kläppen, Sweden's best snow park. For several years running, Kläppen has been among the first to open, offering plenty of rails, jumps and an airbag.

As a backup, we have a week planned at the indoor ski facility SNØ and JumpYard to get the season started.

Hemsedal

Vi avslutter sesongen i Hemsedal, hvor bakkene holder seg til mai. I likhet med Trysil er Hemsedal et av de mest anerkjente anleggene i Norge.

SNØ inneanlegg

Mandatory: Yes

Vi besøker SNØ på høsten for å kickstarte sesongen. Inneanlegget lar deg få ski- og brettfølelsen i god tid før snøen legger seg ute. Her er det både hopp og rails eller muligheter for å cruise.

Sälen

Vi reiser til Sälen i Sverige litt ut i sesongen, når parkene er godt etablerte og sannsynligheten for gode forhold øker. Parkene regnes som noen av Sveriges beste, og her får vi variasjon og en god oppkjøring til alpeturen.

At the very start of the school year, the whole school travels to Glitterheim in Jotunheimen national park. Here we attempt to climb Glittertind, Norway’s second-highest peak at 2452 meters. (Don’t worry, if hiking isn’t your thing, you can choose a shorter trail).

In the evenings we play cards, relax, and quickly get to know each other.

Applicants must be 18 years old at the start of the school year or turn 18 during the school year. There are no other specific admission requirements.

Priority criteria

  • Applicants who are 18 years old at the start of the school year or turn 18 during the school year.
  • Applicants residing in Norway and former students applying for readmission.
  • Applicants residing in the EU, EEA or the United Kingdom.
  • 10% of the school's maximum capacity is reserved for international applicants.

Admission process

  1. Submit your application

    You can apply for admission from 1 October in the year before your intended start. This applies to all Norwegian folk high schools.

    There is no application deadline, but we recommend applying early, as some courses may receive more applications than there are places available.

  2. Admissions begin – offers are sent out

    You will start receiving responses to applications from 15 November. This date is the same for all Norwegian folk high schools. If you apply after 15 November, your application will be processed on a rolling basis.

  3. Accept your offer

    We need you to respond to your offer, and we naturally hope you'll accept your place! You can confirm your acceptance by email or SMS. You have 14 days to respond.

  4. Your place is confirmed

    Once you have received an offer, accepted it and paid the enrolment fee, your place at the school is secured.

A year without grade pressure

At Elverum folkehøgskole you will get the oportunity to develop as a person, challenge yourself and your values, and form lasting relations. All without the pressure of grades or exams. Choose a year filled with experiences, new friends, opportunities, and activities around the clock – without the pressure of grades. We offer full-year and half-year courses, and our students are on average 19 years old. Most come from Norway, but many also come from Europe and beyond.

More than 30 electives and plenty of activities

In your main subject you can focus on what you love or try something completely new! You can choose from more than 30 electives, and in addition there are student evenings, concerts, handball matches, and much more. There’s always something to join in on!

Perfect location with both nature and city nearby

The school is close to the town center, with a swimming spot and outdoor areas right outside the door. In summer you can play football and volleyball, and in winter we build a rail park in the yard for skiing and snowboarding. You’ll have access to studios, workshops, a gymnasium, fitness room, and great facilities for both creative and practical subjects.

Teachers who see you

Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and provide close follow-up. You are taken seriously, there is always someone on duty if you need help, and we do our best to make sure you thrive. We have a large and inclusive community, with students from all over Norway and many international students each year.
