    Do you enjoy helping others? At Heart to Heart, combining your commitment to fellow human beings gets a unique journey by train through Europe.

    Focus areas

    You will learn how to specifically help people in need both in Norway, and elsewhere in the world, and what type of aid works. 

    Interrail in Europe

    Are you dreaming of traveling on Interrail? Then you can get ready for a unique experience when we get on the train in Eidsvoll and travel through 8 countries. We participate in practical social work together with the aid organization Mission Without Borders (MUG)'s work among the poor in Bulgaria. You get to take part in concrete aid work, everything from packing food boxes, to distributing aid packages, and food distribution in Bulgaria.

    Everyday life

    Everyday life at Heart to Heart also consists of social work in the local area. We connect to the Volunteer Centre, help out at the youth club and contribute to the language café, and we travel to Oslo to learn from aid organisations.

    We also spice up everyday life with activities such as:

    Concerts in Oslo
    Team building
    Trampoline park
    Cooking

    On our train journey through Europe, we travel across eight countries.

    We visit some of Europe’s most beautiful cities, but as we head further east, we also witness poverty and the need for help. In Bulgaria, we partner with the aid organization MUG, where we take part in food distribution and learn about how social work is done in practice. You’ll experience the joy of helping others — and gain a new perspective on your own life.

    The goal of the trip is also to build a strong class community. Along the way, you’ll experience the incredible diversity of Europe and test your independence and travel skills.

    At Hurdal Verk, you choose two different lines — which means at least two exciting travel destinations during the year!

    This is how it works at our school:

    • At Verk Folk High School, international students are not placed in separate classes. Instead, they are fully integrated into regular classes alongside Norwegian students who speak both Norwegian and English.

    Our experience shows that this creates real friendships and helps students learn the language faster and more naturally.

    • That is why "Norwegian for Foreigners" is not a separate study line, but an additional course for those who want to learn Norwegian.
    • This means you can freely choose from our wide range of main courses, without limitations.

    What makes Hurdal Verk even more unique is that all students take two main courses, not just one. This allows you to combine different interests, enjoy greater variety in your school year, and meet even more people — giving you a richer social and learning experience.

    • When you apply, you select your Line 1 and Line 2, and simply add Norwegian for Foreigners if you want Norwegian language training.
