Ticket to Ride "Real Life Edition". Join us on interrail in Europe and backpacking in Thailand, Vientam and Laos! Meetings between people, sports, photography, and aid work.

Ticket to Ride – Asia is an active travel course focusing on backpacking, adventure and accessible outdoor activities. Challenge yourself, step outside your comfort zone and experience adventures both in Norway and around the world.

Join us for an unforgettable three-week journey through Asia and make memories that will last a lifetime. We explore the incredible countries of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and China. We travel beyond the typical tourist routes, giving you the chance to meet local people, experience different cultures and take part in exciting activities. In Thailand, we also have our own charity project, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference for others.

Back in Norway, your days will be filled with a wide variety of activities and outdoor adventures, along with some fitness and strength training and trips to Oslo.

The longest trip will give you travel memories and experiences you won't soon forget.

South-East Asia entices with nature, people, culture quite different from what we are used to. In advance of the trip, we will prepare enough so that we are familiar with the cultures and geography we will encounter. On this trip, we will focus on aid. We visit a small poor village in Laos, where we help build a school, live and eat with the locals and, not least, play with the local children.

One of our goals with the trip is to visit places where we come into close contact with the culture and the people. We visit well-known places in both Thailand and Laos, but we seek even more to reach out to areas that are lesser known, and which will give us experiences that we would not otherwise have the opportunity to have. Laos is a country that, until very recently, has been very closed and unknown to the Western world. This will be one of the major highlights of the Ticket to Ride course.

During and after the trip, we work with film and photography to document the experiences we have had and experiences made.

Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan offer spectacular scenery and ways of life very different from ours. We’ll get to know people we would never otherwise have met.

  • Visit nomad families who keep horses, sheep and cows.

  • Trek through mountains, open grasslands and past beautiful lakes.

  • Sleep in a yurt, a traditional nomad tent.

  • Try pottery and make wool rugs with local craftspeople.

  • Discover places where getting there is an adventure in itself.

“Get there within three days”

You and two or three fellow students get an address and one simple instruction: “Get there within three days.” You arrange your own transport and places to stay, finding your way through unfamiliar places.

Uzbekistan
Explore Samarkand and Bukhara, with huge mosques, blue mosaics, narrow streets and lively bazaars. They almost look like film sets!

Tajikistan
Discover one of the world’s most mountainous countries, with small villages, rough dirt roads and everyday life far removed from ours.

Kyrgyzstan
Experience nomad life, sleep in a yurt, ride horses across open grasslands, see traditional eagle hunting and trek through spectacular scenery.

Kazakhstan
Explore Almaty, surrounded by towering mountains, and visit Charyn Canyon.
