Want to learn about outdoor life, but does it seem frightening? Outdoor Life Easy takes more comfortable trips for beginners and provides a safe introduction to many activities.

Outdoor life easy is the line for those who want to experience as much as possible in one year, but at the same time do it with no rush, where the whole class learns everything from scratch. You get to try traditional outdoor life with accommodation in tents, lavvo and under the open sky in the northern lights. In autumn we go on nice mountain hikes on northern Norwegian mountains like the Seven sisters, and go visiting islands with sea kayaks in the archipelago paradise on the Helgeland coast. In winter, you can sleep in a snow cave and ski in powder snow.

Although we take things slowly, you also get to try a number of fast-paced outdoor activities. We climb indoors and outdoors, go on hikes with good food and focus on social activities. After one year at Outdoor life easy, you have had many fun experiences in a safe and social class environment. We go on trips where you get plenty of time to enjoy the sights and de-stress in true Northern Norwegian nature. This is not the line for those who always want to go the furthest, highest and fastest; this is the line where we focus on making the best friends, taking the best photos and getting the most memorable moments. We leave boring campfood at home and instead we make some proper gourmet meals in nature.

Helgeland is an eldorado as a starting point for outdoor life. We have fantastic nature, high mountains, deep valleys, rushing rivers, large glaciers, untouched national parks and the northern lights.

Lofoten 10-12 dgr

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: ca 1 uke

Meals included per day: 3

We go on a line trip to Lofoten. With its majestic nature and limitless hiking opportunities, it is a perfect destination that many people have on their bucket list. On the way to Lofoten, we have an overnight stay in Bodø and use the opportunity to climb inside Northern Norway's best climbing facility.

Lofoten consists of three main islands which are connected by tunnels and bridges. In the east is Austvågøy, where we visit Svolvær, Henningsvær and of course do activities in the area. In the middle of Lofoten's island chain lies Vestvågøy with Leknes as the largest town. On Vestvågøy it is a little less steep, and you can do activities such as horse riding along beautiful turquoise beaches, visit a Viking village and go on slightly less demanding summit hikes. Moskenes is the outermost of the three islands, and has the most dramatic scenery. Here are Reinebringen, Å, Bunes stranda, Kvalvika, and many other dramatic natural areas. If there is no storm, we can perhaps take beginner surfing courses at Unstad or Flakstad, which are two well-known surfing beaches.

In addition to this trip, we also have the option of island hopping on the Helgeland coast during the school year. Look forward to an exciting year in the North of Norway.

Øyhopping på Helgelandskysten

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: ca 5 dager

Meals included per day: 3

We start the journey in the southern part of the Helgeland coast, with hikes around Torghatten and visiting Brønnøysund. Then we head over to the island of Vega where we go on classic hikes and not least the Vega stairs. Here we live in traditional rowboats by the sea. We then travel on towards Sandnessjøen, Nesna and have our next camp at the beautiful island of Tomma. Here we clean up the beach and stay at the unique Helgeland Havhus (a floating accommodation with a jacuzzi). Beach cleaning contributes to less plastic in the sea, which is a growing problem along the entire Norwegian coast.

We focus on nature experiences, trackless traffic, sustainability and coastal outdoor traditions on this tour.

Towards the end of the school year, we take you on an adventure trip to The coast of Helgeland, also called the world's most beautiful archipelago. You can't have been in Helgeland for so long without getting this! We aim for several attractions on the trip, hopefully to end up at Træna. Træna is an island municipality 33 nautical miles off the coast of Helgeland. There has been settlement here ever since the Stone Age, 9,000 years ago. This wonderful island municipality that is flourishing like never before. You may have heard of Trænafestivalen?

On 15.2 km² you will meet the people of the sea. They count 453 people, and have an entrepreneurial mentality that you have never seen. You will have the opportunity to have a milkshake at Aloha café, drink Helgeland's best cappuccino at Træna Kaffekollektiv and eat a delicious dinner at Havfolkets hus. You will have the opportunity to sing together in Kirkehelleren, walk up to the NATO station at Gompen or walk the love path around the mountains at Sanna. If you want to go fishing or sit in the sauna at the boathouse, this is also an option. Or perhaps you would like to visit the Petter Dass chapel, which was decorated by the artist Karl Erik Harr? It's just a lot to look forward to!

Vefsn Folkehøgskole TOPPEN is an active and creative school, placed on the top of a hill on the outskirts of Mosjøen in the middle of Norway. But still far enough up north that the northern lights dance across the sky regularly during the winther.
