MOUNTAIN SPORTS AND KAYAKING

Do you want to feel your heart pumping on your way up one of northern Norway's highest mountains and enjoy the northern light all winter? Here you can experience the rush of adventure daily.

At Mountain sports og Kayaking, we lead an active outdoor life, that is to say, we encounter nature through our activities. In the autumn, we paddle both sea and river, try outdoor climbing, go for walks on mountains, glaciers and inside caves. In late autumn, we climb indoors and complete the steeplechase. We also take the kayaks into the pool to practice the eskimo rolling. When winter is finally here, we strap on our skis, stand in a lift, go to the mountains and kite on the snow. This makes us well prepared for our line trip to the Alps in the spring.

With us you get:

We visit some of Northern Norway's most beautiful places. We go on glacier walks on Okstindbreen, Mountain walks on the Seven Sisters and spend the night at the beautiful Rabothytta. In addition, we have all the Helgeland Coast as our nearest neighbour. In the autumn we also make a visit to Lofoten.

The area arond our school has some of the world's finest rivers for both sea and river kayaking. If you fancy a year of action, social activity and experiences, you will have the best time with us.

Georgia

Fjellsport og Kajakk reiser på studietur til Georgia for å stå på ski i Kaukassusfjellene, nærmere bestemt frikjøringsparadiset Gudauri. Dette er en bortgjemt perle som byr på frikjøring i verdensklasse. Med skikjøring i fokus står vi mye på ski i Gudauri skianlegg som ligger på det sørvendte platået til kaukasussfjellene. Dette er et unikt anlegg på rundt 2200 meter over havet. Kanskje prøver vi oss på paragliding!

Georgia er en perle i hjertet av Kaukasus og befinner seg på den historiske silkeveien der øst møter vest. Georgia er blant våre eldste sivilisasjoner og er kjent for sin gjestfrihet. Vi besøker hovedstaden Tbilisi og tilbringer der noen dager for å bli bedre kjent med kulturen. Her kommer vi garantert til å få noen fine kulturmøter.  Kanskje besøker vi svovelbadene i gamlebyen for å få varmen i oss, kanskje stikker vi på basarene for å sjekke ut georgisk håndverk. Maten i Georgia er en fusjon av europeisk og asiatisk kjøkken og er virkelig nydelig. Det er mye spennende å oppleve i Tbilisi og i forkant av turen jobber vi med planlegging av aktiviteter og severdigheter vi ønsker å oppleve på vår reise.

Lofoten

During the autumn we go on a study trip to Lofoten. With its majestic nature and limitless hiking opportunities, it is a perfect destination that many people have on their bucket list.

 

You can try surfing in the most spectacular surroundings at Unstad/Flakstad, kayaking in the sea around mighty mountains and go on mountain hikes you will remember for a long time. Simply taking in the wonderful nature Lofoten has to offer is an experience in itself. This is a trip that offers some of the most unique places we have in the Norway, which everyone should get to experience.

Towards the end of the school year, we take you on an adventure trip to The coast of Helgeland, also called the world's most beautiful archipelago. You can't have been in Helgeland for so long without getting this! We aim for several attractions on the trip, hopefully to end up at Træna. Træna is an island municipality 33 nautical miles off the coast of Helgeland. There has been settlement here ever since the Stone Age, 9,000 years ago. This wonderful island municipality that is flourishing like never before. You may have heard of Trænafestivalen?

On 15.2 km² you will meet the people of the sea. They count 453 people, and have an entrepreneurial mentality that you have never seen. You will have the opportunity to have a milkshake at Aloha café, drink Helgeland's best cappuccino at Træna Kaffekollektiv and eat a delicious dinner at Havfolkets hus. You will have the opportunity to sing together in Kirkehelleren, walk up to the NATO station at Gompen or walk the love path around the mountains at Sanna. If you want to go fishing or sit in the sauna at the boathouse, this is also an option. Or perhaps you would like to visit the Petter Dass chapel, which was decorated by the artist Karl Erik Harr? It's just a lot to look forward to!

Vefsn Folkehøgskole TOPPEN is an active and creative school, placed on the top of a hill on the outskirts of Mosjøen in the middle of Norway. But still far enough up north that the northern lights dance across the sky regularly during the winther.
