Fancy a year in the wildest and most spectacular classroom? We have picked the best of Norwegian outdoor life and will spend the year experiencing the huge variety Norwegian wilderness has to offer.

Would you like to raft on a glacier river, paddle kayaks between skerries on the coast, try dog sledding, summit some of the tallest mountains in the country, ski in the back country in pristeen powder, surf and climb?

Experience the quick changes in weather - the raw power of an autumn storm, the variations in the landscape from coastal to inland areas South to North in this long long country? If you do, this is the program for you!

Travel less, exprience more.

We focus on getting to know some of the most spectacular wilderness areas in Norway. Low-impact travel and see more, whilst polluting less. Deep conversation around the camp fire, nights under the stars, cabin trips and camping in tents. You'll get to meet the trolls in the Jotunheimen range, Lofoten, Hardanger mountain plateau, Jostedals glacier and much more. You can plan your dream trek here in Norway together with your fellow students.

This is a year with countless magical moments - in Norway.

Studietur Lofoten

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: 10-12 dager

Meals included per day: 3

The Northern Lights, steep mountains, white, sandy beaches and sunsets!

Fish for Atlantic cod, try surfing, enjoy a camp fire and the unique beauty of this reknown area. There are not many places that can compare to Lofoten, and this is something we get to experience together.

Naturally, we travel low-impact - and this enables us to enjoy not only our destination, but also the journey that takes us there. Travelling much of the length of the country takes us through outstanding scenery, different climate zones, and gives us plenty of exciting experiences underway right from the start.

To experience an evening with the aurora dancing across the sky whilst listening to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach is really quite unique.
From the Sognefjord to the open northern seas -where we may be greeted with storms or blue skies as far as the eye can see, can only be experienced.

Northern-Norway is also famous for its' humor, and there is a good chance we will be subjected to it!

Studietur Hardangervidda

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: 10-12

Meals included per day: 4

Traversing the Hardanger mountain plateau is a long, classic ski trek where we really get to test our skills, a physical challenge which gives us the oppurtunity to get close to nature over a longer period of time. We prepare all our rations ourselves, pack the sleds in tent-teams and plan the route together. We explore the fantastic plateau landscape as winter  recedes and spring approaches bringing with it the brighter, warmer, sunny days

This is a longer trip with people you have learned to work together with, have become friends with, and whom you have learned to trust. This strengthens our experiences and creates memories that will last. Underway, we also pay a visit to "Trolltunga"!

Fjærland, fjord, fjell og bre

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: 3 dager

Meals included per day: 4

A week or two after the school commences, we go to Fjærland together on a three-day trip. This enables us to get to know one another better, and to experience one of Norways most outstanding mountain & fjord areas. We take day hikes from base camp, and take part in activities to loosen up and become acquinted. In the evening we have dinner and gather together around the camp fire - where we chat, sing, or just relax after a day of fresh air and experiences.  After 3 days, and plenty of social activities we have built foundations we need to build friendships.

Hemsedal

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: 3 dager

Meals included per day: 4

During the 3rd week of the spring semester, we travel to the ski resort of Hemsedal. We stay in chalets at the base of the lift area, perfect for "Ski-in - ski-out" For 3 full days we develop our skiing technique and learn new tricks. The students are divided into small groups and can choose between Telemark (free-heel skis) and downhill or ski-touring skiing. We hire a few instructors in addition to our own staff so you get plenty of instruction. There are two instruction periods during the day, and the rest of the time you are free to ski with your fellow students.

Evenings are spent together in the lounges at the chalets after an evening meal.

Vårcruise på Sognefjorden

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

Duration: 2 dager

Meals included per day: 3

Towards the end of the school year, we depart for a two-day cruise on the Sognefjord. We have a whole vessel to ourselves, and we sail into Aurlandsjord and Nærøyfjord -where we camp overnight in the scenic fjord-hamlet of Dyrdal -a tiny, roadless community which offers plenty of opportunities -and space - for activities and mountain hikes for those who wish. We live onboard the vessel, in the local empty village school, -or, for those who prefer, camp in tents or under the sky. We barbecue our own food and enjoy a social evening aroung a camp fire. On day two, we disembark and hike along the enchanting postal trail to Styvi, where we have lunch, and for those who wish, a refreshing dip in the fjord!

Skiing, trail biking & surf

Every year we have a limited number of foreign students. Our teaching program is practically oriented, we do not have a bespoke language learning program for foreign students. However, there are students from abroad almost every year; primarily from the US, the UK, and other European countries.
This means that for the individual student, most of the language learning takes place interacting with the Norwegian students and the teachers. If you actively work on learning Norwegian from the beginning, the challenges of language barriers will not stop you from full participation in the school program.
