Do you think it's fun to create together with others? Do you enjoy being on stage and singing, dancing and acting? Inspired by the world's musical theatre, we create our own shows. \

Here you really get to develop yourself together with others. It will be a year with many exciting challenges in singing , dancing and acting . In the class, we collaborate on large and small projects, and we choose for ourselves what we want to set up and create together. In other words, it is your creativity that is worth its weight in gold this school year. We draw inspiration from established artists and professionals, both in Bergen and on study trips.

We hold several performances at the school, but are happy to tour our production outside the school. The year ends with a larger production.

This spring's study tour will be an interrail, where we will take the train in Bergen and stop in Copenhagen, Berlin. Paris and London. The journey will give us some amazing experiences and lots of inspiration from performances and workshops with professional performing artists in Europe. We go to performances and experience some of the best in theatre, musical theatre, concerts and shows

In the course we will focus on:

Song - your voice, your intuition and your expression
Acting - physical communication, role interpretation and interaction
Text - from idea to performance, text presentation and script work
Dance - jazz dance, choreography and physical training, yoga

This spring's study tour will be an interrail, where we will take the train in Bergen and stop in Copenhagen, Berlin. Paris and London. The journey will give us some amazing experiences and lots of inspiration from performances and workshops with professional performing artists in Europe. We go to performances and experience some of the best in theatre, musical theatre, concerts and shows. We go backstage at the theater and get a workshop with actors who work on the big stages.

A few weeks after start-up, the whole school go on the most beautiful adventure of the autumn – the joint trip to Voss. Here in Norway's adrenaline capital, you will get elements of culture, history, nature, adrenaline and competition.

On the trip you will have the opportunity to make new acquaintances, across who you live with at the boarding school or on your line. We arrange environmentally friendly activities where everyone has the opportunity to participate on their own terms.

Welcome to Bergen and welcome to Åsane Folk High School!

We are looking forward to embarking on a new school year and hope that you would like to join us and share new experiences with us. We are a playful and social bunch of staff who want to get you on a unique school year. Here lies the opportunity for personal and professional development, new good friendships, food experiences and lots of laughter and fun.

During the school year you will have ample opportunity to get to know Bergen, the city's unique charm, architecture and history, the cultural offerings, the academic communities You can get to Bergen in 25 minutes and here you can go to the cinema, in the ADO arena, go shopping or enjoy the atmosphere at one of the many cafés.

On your course, you get to work on subjects and topics that you are interested in, and together with your classmates you get a great trip to a current and exciting destination. Maybe you also want to come with us to Nepal and be enthralled by the culture, people and landscape there?

You live, sleep and eat at the folk high school.

We believe that living with your fellow students, creates an outstanding learning environment. By sharing accommodations with people who are different from you, you learn to work together and handle problems.

School life is a mix of teaching, good meals, joint activities, leisure time and boarding school life. The great thing about folk high school life is that you always have access to your fellow students. A year at Åsane Folk High School can be the best year of your life.

Åsane Folkehøgskole does not have any courses especially for english speaking students. Still, english speaking students are welcome to apply, as long as they have a basic understanding of Norwegian language, and also are motivated to learn Norwegian by their own efforts during the school year.
