In our state-of-the-art studio, you learn what it takes to make a good film. Learn about scripts, camera technology, sound, lighting, studio and clips as well as live TV broadcasts. Social learning!

Have you ever dreamed of learning how to make real movies? Or want to spend a year getting even better alongside others who want to make films? Then you belong here!

With us, the good story and collaboration is in focus, so regardless of whether you have a lot of experience or have never used a camera before, we can guarantee that you will have an educational and exciting year here at Stord Folk High School.

You will learn about script, direction, photography, lighting, clips and more, and how to put the different elements together to create the best possible story.

In addition to film production, we will also make our own live TV broadcasts. The whole class must work together for the result to be the best possible. The excitement when the red light is on and the broadcast goes live is unique.

Music videos, horror movies, drama, comedy or studio productions - this is the course for you!

As a student on the course, you have full scale equipment at your disposal. Use your creativity, and only your fantasy limits what you can create. Our studio is your sandbox.

Stord Folk High School is one of the country's newest schools and is centrally located in the middle of Leirvik center in Stord. Everything is in walking distance. Our school is a former hotel building so all rooms at the boarding school have their own bathroom with toilet and shower.

Studytrip for the filmclass where we will: 

  • Visit Universal Studios (and perhaps other filmproducers) 
  • Visit famous spots such as “Walk of fame”, “Dolby Theater”, Hollywood skiltet, Griffith Observatory, etc..
  • Enjoy the beautiful weather and the beaches surrounding LA, like Santa Monica Beach
  • Time to go sightseeing and shopping on your own.

Oslo - we visit the Film and TV industry!

In Oslo, you will get an insider's view of the film and TV industry. We visit production companies and TV channels to see how professionals work. There will be time for sightseeing, shopping and social activities.

Våre turar er unike opplevingar som ofte er vanskeleg å gjennomføra på eigahand, som fjordcruise med veteranskip i nydelege Hardangerfjorden. Du vil reisa på ulike turar nært og fjernt. Nokre turar er knytt opp til dei enkelte linjene, medan andre er felles for skulen.

Veteranship MS Sunnhordland - West Coast tour

The school year gets off to a flying start with the whole school travelling on a veteran ship, the MS Sunnhordland, into the beautiful Hardangerfjord and around the archipelago of Sunnhordland. Me experience many great stops and enjoy beautiful scenery and unique straits onboard a historic ship!

Winter adventure

Mandatory: Yes

Price: Included in course price

When winter comes, we travel to Hovden for days of skiing and alpine skiing. You can enjoy cross-country skiing in flat terrain, slalom, tobogganing, summit tours, steep hills or very steep hills. Something for all levels!

Stord Folkehøgskule is a free-spirited folk high school. Here you can enjoy urban life in Stord, the city in the middle of nature, situated in the heart of the archipelago Sunnhordland, at the heart of the renowed Hardangerfjorden. The school has nine exciting and varied courses, including one course dedicated to learning the language and culture. We also have many fun and interesting electives, newly renovated buildings and a highly motivated staff ready to receive you. We have room for more than 100 students and we have students from all of Norway and around the world.
