Vi reiser til Sørøya og starter småviltjakta! Sørøya er naturperle og har en god hare og rypebestand, så her blir det mange muligheter til å skaffe årets første viltmiddag. Det blir naturopplvelser og en jaktstart du aldri kommer til å glemme.

January with us is about more than teaching. It is about your own effort, mastery, community and nature experiences that you will never forget.

Planning winter trips - Early in January we start planning our 20-day Finnmark winter adventure Course in winter outdoor activities - we go in depth on the knowledge and skills needed for a safe winter outdoor activity
Course in dog sledding - Feel the excitement when the dogs set off across the winter landscape.You will get a thorough introduction to dog sledding - an iconic Finnmark experience!
Trip to Kautokeino - experience the reindeer herd on winter pasture and meet reindeer herding Sami as part of their experiences

Whalesafari

You are out on a boat and suddenly hear a loud breathing sound - then it is probably a humpback whale.Look closely - it could be quite a distance away, since their sound can carry over a kilometer. In November, large schools of herring come to Altafjorden for the winter.With these schools come large pods of killer whales and humpback whales.We go by boat out into the fjord to get a unique experience of these fascinating animals up close.
You will also learn more about the whale species found in our waters - living conditions and challenges the population faces.

Opplev Øst-Finnmark

Vi drar på rundreise i Øst-Finnmark, et fantastisk stykke Norge som har alt, fra frodige dalfører i innlandet til karrig kyst med fri horisont ut over Barentshavet mot Nordpolen.

Vi besøker Bugøynes med sin finske historie, sauna og ishavsbading. I Pasvikdalen får du være på tur i gammel furuskog, med bjørner i hi, og grensa mot Russland rett over Pasvikelva. Videre går turen ytterst i havgapet på Varangerhalvøya, til fiskeværet Berlevåg hvor vi møter lokale ildsjeler, lærer om kystkulturen lengst nord og opplever den rå og spektakulære naturen i området.

Denne fellesturen vil du aldri glemme!

Finnmarksløpet

I mars kommer langt over tusen hunder til Alta for å delta i Finnmarksløpet, Europas lengste hundeløp. Du får være med som hjelper og funksjonær, og får oppleve Finnmarks største arrangement på innsiden.

Her får du sammen med medelever planlegge og gjennomføre drømmeturen. Du kan starte eventyret på ski fra skolen, eller reise lengre bort, etter at du har fått oppleve første del av Finnmarksløpet.

På friluftslivsturer bør gruppa være 3-4 personer.

Alta school is perfectly located for all outdoor activities, under pine forests at the foot of mount Skoddevarre, and walking distance of the Alta river. There are lakes, climbing areas, and ski terrain. Click into skis right out the dorm door. Alta river runs north from Sautso, northern Europe's biggest river canyon. There are lush valleys, long fjords, steep peaks, and glaciers between the southern Finnmark tundra and northern Finnmark alps.

Good food and fellowship! Nothing like coming home to great food prepared by passionate cooks after outdoor activities! The dorms with shared kitchen and living spaces. This fellowship is like glue center of social interaction and lifelong friendship.

Main course is about 85 days, 2 to 7 days per week, mostly outdoors.
Electives are divided over 4 periods. You choose electives on arrival in august. With electives, you can try new activities or go deeper into things that interest you most..
Group activities and excursions: Get to know Alta school/area. First aid course, solidarity project, skiing, Sami seminar, Easter activities and other school excursions complete the school year.
