    On this course we make exciting food from home and abroad! Street food from many continents. Party and everyday food.

    Global Kitchen – Food, Culture and Creativity

    Learn about ingredients, basic cooking techniques and food traditions from around the world. Most lessons take place in our bright, spacious kitchen, where we prepare and enjoy delicious dishes together.

    What will you learn?

    Travel to Japan!

    Explore ancient temples and busy neon-lit streets, and experience arcades and cutting-edge technology—all within a culture rich in tradition.

    Teaching is mainly practical, combined with some theory to give you a deeper understanding of the subject. We also prepare food for events and activities at the school.

    At Karmøy Folkehøgskule, you choose two study programmes. If you choose Global Kitchen, you will also select one of the following:

    Studietur – Tokyo & Kyoto

    • Tokyo – futuristisk matopplevelse! Street food-markeder, sushi-restauranter og kanskje til og med en ramen crawl.
    • Kyoto – tradisjon møter moderne smaker. Her kan du oppleve te-seremoni, lære mer om japansk matkultur og smake på kaiseki – Japans elegante flerrettersmåltider.
    • Inspirasjon på ekte – vi reiser for å oppleve maten der den virkelig hører hjemme.

    Da vi har spennende utenlandsturer på begge linjene du som elev går på, har vi valgt å legge fellesturene til vakre og spennende omgivelser i Norge. Vi arrangerer blant annet en super tur til Preikestolen utenfor Stavanger.

    Foruten flere fellesturer setter vi også av tid til fellesarrangementer som:

    • konserter
    • kinoforestillinger
    • seminar
    • foredrag

    Alle elevene ved Karmøy Folkehøgskole deltar på minst 2 utenlandsturer gjennom sine 2 linjer. Enkelte elever deltar på opptil 4 utlandsturer avhengig av hvilke linjer de har valgt. Derfor har vi lagt opp til en felles skoletur til Preikestolen og Stavanger. Skolen ønsker også at våre elever får delta på lokale kulturelle arrangement i skolens nærmiljø, dvs på Haugalandet. Dette er for eksempel spennende konserter, kinoforestillinger, teater og byvandring.

    • Outdoor-activity Sea (Friluftsliv Sjø in Norwegian) including a trip to Croatia with diving classes and island hopping with 2 sailboats
    • Experience Africa including a trip to Tanzania
    • Experience South America including a trip to Brazil & Argentina
    • Bakery & Pastry (Baker & Konditor in Norwegian) including a trip to Paris and Brussel
    • Football Europe Inkluding a trip to Brasil & Argentina
    • Fashion Clothes Design/Redesign including a trip to London and Paris
    • Resit a subject/exam

    Programs choose 2:

    • Multisport including a trip to Europe
    • Focus Japan including a trip to Tokyo & Kyoto in Japan
    • Action Adventure X including a trip to Bali, Indonesia
    • Global Kitchen including a trip to Tokyo & Kyoto in Japan

    • Backpacking including a trip to Australia
    • Norwegian Language & Living - discover the beauty of Western Norway and interrail Europe
