    Would you like to experience incredible adventures with other young people and a backpack on your shoulders? The Backpacking course takes you on exciting journeys through Western Norway and Australia.

    Australia

    • Sydney – experience city life, the Opera House, Bondi Beach and Australia’s surfing culture
    • National parks – see kangaroos, koalas and other exotic animals in spectacular surroundings

    Western Norway—local adventures and incredible nature

    • Amazing Race – teamwork, challenges and fun
    • Winter trip – skiing, sledging, great food and cosy cabin life
    • Overnight trips – stay in a cabin, tent, lavvu or hammock—you choose
    • Plan your own trips – take your ideas from planning to reality

    You need no previous experience to join this course! It does not matter if you have never skied before or are not used to hiking. We will help you!

    Backpacker life

    • Travel planning, budgeting, route planning and transport
    • How to pack a backpack or travel bag

    Introduction to photography

    • Basic photography and filmmaking techniques
    • How to use a camera or smartphone camera
    • How to think creatively when taking photos and making vide

    Hvert år reiser hele skolen på en fellestur til Preikestolen. Her får elevene oppleve flott natur, aktivitet og fellesskap utenfor skoleområdet.

    Siden du som elev får minst 2 utenlandstur med linjene dine, har vi valgt å la skolens fellestur være en opplevelse i Norge.

    Gjennom skoleåret setter vi også av tid til ulike felles opplevelser og arrangementer, for eksempel:

    • konserter
    • kinoforestillinger
    • seminarer
    • foredrag

    Fellesturen og fellesarrangementene gir gode opplevelser på tvers av linjer og bidrar til å styrke fellesskapet på skolen.

    Alle elevene ved Karmøy Folkehøgskole deltar på minst 2 utenlandsturer gjennom sine 2 linjer. Enkelte elever deltar på opptil 4 utlandsturer avhengig av hvilke linjer de har valgt. Derfor har vi lagt opp til en felles skoletur til Preikestolen og Stavanger. Skolen ønsker også at våre elever får delta på lokale kulturelle arrangement i skolens nærmiljø, dvs på Haugalandet. Dette er for eksempel spennende konserter, kinoforestillinger, teater og byvandring.

    All programs include exciting travel destinations! Your school year is also filled with common subjects, electives, theme days, projects, activities and experiences together with the whole school.

    Our dormitories mainly consist of double rooms with a private bathroom with shower and toilet. We also have some single rooms with shared bathrooms in the hallway.

    In our dining hall, we serve good and varied meals three times a day.

    The school is located close to the small town Kopervik, with grocery stores, cafés, shops, a cinema and library within walking distance. Haugesund city centre and several shopping centres are also nearby. Haugesund Airport is only 11 km from the school, making it easy to travel to and from Karmøy.

    Right next to the school is Karmøyhallen, with a gym, swimming pool, diving tower, waterslide, hot tub and sauna. Nearby you will also find tennis courts, basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, running and walking trails, and disc golf. One of Norway’s finest beaches is only 6 km away!

    At the school, we have a gaming room with 10 gaming PCs, Xbox and PlayStation, as well as pool, table tennis, board games, a sports hall, music rooms and a cinema room.
