We gain a unique insight into nature-based tourism in Thailand through guidance from local tourism leaders who, for many years, have taken visitors to both well-known and hidden gems in northern and southern Thailand. We also visit the areas around Hanoi and Da Nang on the coast of Vietnam. Along the way, we speak with nature guides in the different countries and compare mindsets and the guiding role in the countries we visit with those in Norway.
In Iceland, we will ride Icelandic horses, photograph mighty waterfalls, caves, rocky landscapes, geysers. In this trip you use everything you've learned about photography this school year to create beautiful landscape photos. Maybe they deserve a place on the wall? Previously, the trip went to the south coast, Reynisfjera and Vik i Myrdal. Bring swimwear for the hot springs.

In Denmark, we try to capture the special light in the area around Skagen. We visit places such as Råbjerg Mile, Den tilsannede kirke, Grenen. In the eagle reserve near Tversted, we photograph eagles, vultures and falcons, among other things.

We spend a few days in the lighthouse accommodation at Lista lighthouse and use the days for photography and visiting cultural monuments. There are still traces of settlement from the Bronze Age in the area, and the light at Lista has always been well known by photographers and other artists. Our class has adopted an area in the shoreline where we annually clear marine litter and report findings to "Keep Norway clean". We also visit the bird station, learn about ring marking and learn about the importance of conserving wetlands both locally and globally. In the evening we enjoy good food inside the lighthouse and those who wish have the opportunity to learn more about night photography in the local area.
Surfing and hiking trip to the famous Pulpit Rock
Mandatory: Yes
Price: Included in course price
Meals included per day: 3
Every spring we travel to the Pulpit Rock where we spend the night in tents. The feeling of seeing the sun rise deep in the fjord while we enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or coffee from the plateau itself is absolutely fantastic. In the evening we can enjoy the view of the milky way above the tents while we hear black grouse calling in the nearby trees.
Down again from the Pulpit Rock, we drive to Boretunet Surfschool and get an introduction to surfing by skilled instructors who live and breathe surfing. We spend the night close to the beach and borrow all the equipment for a few days so that everyone who wants can surf a lot. Cozy communal meals, card games and beautiful sunsets on the beach are a must on this trip.
Mountain trip with canoes

In autumn, we visit the mountains and spend nights in tents on foot and by canoes. The trip provides a good introduction to maps/compasses, canoeing, preparing food on a stove, group dynamics and some fishing for those who wish.

The school is located in what we call the pearl of the southern archipelago. Out of the window you can see straight towards the port of Ny - Hellesund where Nordal Grieg wrote the song "Til ungdommen" in his time. This is where our first joint trip goes.. Accommodation in a tent, lavvo, hammock or on a sleeping pad under the open sky. Bathing, bonfire, play and seriousness. We enjoy the scents of late summer and look out to sea, where Denmark is almost visible on the horizon, and get to know each other in an unforgettable way. Friendships are made here.
The school's last joint trip goes to the same place. Summer is in the offing, and it's quite a different group that's on tour. Safe in each other, but melancholy has taken over from anticipation. A feeling that something will soon be over, along with the knowledge that something new is coming. This new thing, which will now be created together with the people you have around you, is no longer as frightening. This will be a trip filled with good memories and strong emotions.
Between these two trips there is a lot of time and space. There is much to be created. Our different classes go on their own trips and spend a lot of time together at school. But every now and then we do some joint trips. It can be to the Pulpit Rock, cinema, theatre, bowling, Zip-line, and it can be to Lindesnes lighthouse or Lista. The animal park is also a natural destination for the school when we are first in these parts.
