London
Mandatory: Yes
Price: Included in course price
Duration: 8-10 dager
During the spring semester we travel to London, one of Europe’s most vibrant and inspiring film cities. Here you’ll find everything from world-class theatre and rich film history to modern technology and creative chaos. We visit places such as Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, BFI Southbank, Film Museum London, Tate Modern, Camden Market, Piccadilly Circus, Soho, Notting Hill, and Westminster.
There’s also time to experience iconic landmarks like the London Eye, Tower Bridge, and Hyde Park, as well as explore filming locations from famous movies.
We stay at a centrally located hotel with breakfast included, close to public transport and the lively city atmosphere. Students are welcome to suggest activities for the shared program, and we adapt the schedule to the group. Of course, we’ll also be making films while we’re there, using London itself as our backdrop.
The trip is designed to balance planned class activities with time for personal experiences and film projects. Everyone receives an Underground pass and funds for a few optional group activities.
Breakfast is included at the hotel, and we’ll have 3–5 shared dinners during the week. Each room also receives some funds for stocking up the hotel room fridge, but we recommend setting aside some personal spending money if you want to explore the city’s many restaurants and cafés.
School mountain cabin, Hovden - film
Mandatory: Yes
Price: Included in course price
Duration: 4-7 dager (2 ganger)
Once during autumn and during winter, we take trips to the school's cabin to make films, visit the water park, go skiing for those who want (both downhill and cross-country), and generally enjoy a cozy cabin atmosphere. The autumn trip involves a shorter production that lays the groundwork for our professional film shoot and serves in many ways as practice for the winter's high-profile project.
We also use the school's cabin as a base for cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snow cave expeditions, and visits to Hovden water park. Hovden offers excellent cross-country ski trails and a large alpine ski resort. Cross-country skis, alpine skis, and snowboards can be rented at reasonable rates in Hovden if you don't bring your own from home. There is also the possibility to borrow some from something called "Bua" in Norway for a week's time. If you're not a skiing enthusiast, there's no pressure - there's plenty of enjoyment to be had at the cabin. Of course, there's also ample time for setting up and planning film shoots.
Internship
Mandatory: Yes
Price: Included in course price
Duration: 1 uke
At the film program at Agder FHS, you’ll have the opportunity to dive straight into the film industry! This is an incredible chance to network with potential employers or gain valuable references for future work after your school year or further studies. You’ll have multiple opportunities to collaborate with and learn from well-known Norwegian filmmakers, but the main highlight is a dedicated internship period. During this time, you’ll be placed at film or TV companies, production studios, or channels, where you’ll get hands-on experience in a variety of areas, including advertising, episodic formats, feature films, marketing, and communication strategies.
You’ll also have the opportunity to express your preferences, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. For example, this year, we placed some VFX-enthusiastic students with one of Norway’s most sought-after VFX companies.
In practical terms, two of you together (so you're not alone) are being sent out together for a week-long internship (potentially longer, if desired and feasible). You can also make requests about where you’d like to go and what you’d like to work on.
It is primarily obligatory, but if this is something you really don't want to then we can always figure something out :)
