At Solbakken Folk High School, just an hour from Oslo, you get the time, space, and encouragement to grow your language skills through daily use, close mentorship, and an exciting blend of lessons and real-life experiences.
You'll have customized Norwegian instruction in a small group, but also many classes with the rest of the students at school, like choir, voice technique, dance and basic acting training, with dedicated teachers. The teaching combines grammar, vocabulary, and oral practice with fun and varied methods tailored to how people actually learn.
But Norwegian at Solbakken isn't just classroom work. We use nature, history, art, and culture as your extended classroom. From learning how to bake waffles to watching a play at the National Theatre and wandering through deep forests. We take you to Finnskogen, Kongsvinger, Odalstunet, Oslo and much more – everything within less than an hour away from our school.
