From bouldering in our backyard to big walls in the Mediterranean – a year of climbing, skiing and adventure!
The Bratt line is for those who dream of spending a year in the mountains and on the rocks. With an experienced teacher in training as an IFMGA mountain guide, you will explore a wide range of climbing and mountain activities:
Indoor and outdoor bouldering on our own wall and nearby crags
Sport climbing, traditional climbing and rappelling
Alpine climbing and ridge traverses
NF climbing and avalanche safety courses
Beginner’s course in ice climbing (Hemsedal & Gol)
Ski touring and avalanche training in winter
The autumn starts with the “climbing bubble”, a journey to the Mediterranean where we climb in sun and warm rock. In winter, we head to the Sunnmøre Alps for ski touring and alpine adventures.
This is the track for those who want to challenge themselves, develop real mountain skills, and share unforgettable experiences in a strong community.

When spring arrives, we head south to the Mediterranean for a week of sun, climbing and adventure! We climb on warm limestone, live simply close to nature, cook together and explore classic climbing areas with routes for all levels.
Every day brings new challenges and experiences, from bouldering and sport climbing to multi-pitch routes in stunning landscapes. The trip focuses on safety, mastery and community, an unforgettable finale to a year in the mountains.

Vi avslutter skoleåret med en uforglemmelig fellestur til Italia – nærmere bestemt vakre Gardasjøen! Her samles alle linjene til sol, opplevelser og fellesskap før vi tar farvel for sommeren.
Området byr på alt: spektakulære fjell, varme kvelder, krystallklart vann og små landsbyer fulle av italiensk sjarm. Elevene kan prøve seg på klatring og via ferrata, stisykling, bading, Gardaland og byliv med shopping og gelato i hånda.
Vi spiser ekte italiensk mat, nyter livet ved innsjøen og får tid til å bare være sammen – uten stress, men med masse latter, sol og minner for livet.

In Green Living you’ll learn about gardening, recycling and sustainable habits in everyday life.
We plant, compost and find simple ways to live closer to nature – together, outdoors and hands-on.
A year at Hallingdal Folkehøgskole is about so much more than the line you choose. At our school, community comes first. You’ll live with people who might become your best friends for life, sharing meals, adventures, laughter and late-night talks.
Join a game in the gym, read a good book in the library, sing in the school choir, or take part in our fun electives on Fridays and Mondays. Get inspired by guest speakers at Saturday seminars, express yourself creatively on program evenings, cook together in our kitchen or relax in the cozy common room after a long day in the mountains. However you spend your time, the Hallingdal spirit will always be with you!

Friluftsliv – Outdoor Life Norway: Hiking, skiing, camping and outdoor living – explore Norway from valley to peak.
Dyrepass – Animal Care: Learn about animal behavior, routines and care through daily work with animals. Experience teamwork, responsibility and joy in the company of four-legged friends.
All students also take part in shared subjects that build friendship, reflection and practical skills.
