Norway’s only criminology course gives you a unique insight into public safety, criminal justice, and investigations – a year filled with experience, knowledge, and new perspectives!
Are you curious to learn about punishment, crime, and the justice system? In this course, you will receive a thorough introduction to laws, regulations, types of punishment, and criminal behavior, and explore how the justice system affects offenders, victims, and society. You will learn about the causes of crime, stigmatization, human rights, ethics, and social norms, and examine how different forms of punishment work in practice – both in Norway and internationally.
You will visit courts, attend trials, speak with police officers and other professionals, and see how prisons and services such as crisis centers, protection programs, and electronic monitoring are used in real life. Through practical case work, role play, and our own courtroom, you will develop skills in critical thinking, analysis, and stress management.
You can also take a free security guard course, strengthening both your physical fitness and your confidence in demanding situations.
The study trip for the security courses goes to Florida, USA. Here, you will get a close look at different security services through visits to prisons, police stations, and fire departments. There will also be optional activities such as alligator safaris, Universal Studios, and skydiving. We stay right by the beach, giving you plenty of time for swimming, beach volleyball, sunbathing, and relaxation.
This will be a year of achievements, friendships, and valuable skills you can take with you – both personally and professionally.
