Interrail through Europe, backpacking and adventures in Norway, and a study trip to Costa Rica. Learn to travel independently, meet new people and discover more of the world.

We combine Interrail through Europe, adventures in Norway and an extended trip to Costa Rica in Central America. Together, we create a year of adventure, fresh perspectives and a community where everyone belongs.

Interrail Europe
In autumn, we travel through Europe by train for 10 days. You help plan the route and choose our destinations. We stay in hostels and explore cities, history, culture, local food and activities.

Backpacking Costa Rica
In spring, we spend 3–4 weeks backpacking in Costa Rica. Discover the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, jungles, volcanoes, tropical wildlife and local culture. Surfing, snorkelling, kayaking, rafting and ziplining may be part of the journey. Meeting locals offers insight into different ways of life.

Backpacking Norway
Between our bigger journeys, we explore closer to home. Skogn offers easy access to fjords, forests and mountains, plus city life and culture in Levanger and Trondheim. Short trips leave time for activities and relaxation: paddling, fishing, climbing, skiing, gentle hikes or camping. No outdoor experience is needed – we learn together and adapt trips to the group.

We plan carefully while leaving room for spontaneous adventures. Throughout the year, you build confidence, learn to consider others and gain new perspectives on the world. Above all, you have the chance to make friends for life.

Norwegian course

We offer a norwegian course for our foreign students. You will learn both to speak, and write in norwegian.

Gymnastics

We train calisthenics, balance and coordination. We'll take some fieldtrips to the gymnastics gym in Levanger, where we learn flips and utilizing the various gymnastics apparatus. Perfect for daredevils and for generalized strength and mobility.

Admission requirements

No requirements.

A Place to Be Yourself

At Skogn, we believe the best moments happen when different people meet. Located in scenic Levanger, surrounded by fjords, mountains, and countryside, our school is just a short train ride from Værnes Airport and Trondheim. Here, you’ll live side by side with students who have completely different interests than your own. This creates a warm and inclusive environment where everyone belongs — whether you love being active, exploring nature, gaming, or relaxing around the dinner table.

Growth and Diversity Across All Courses

We combine specialized subjects with traditional folk high school values. It’s not about being the best, but about pushing your own boundaries and achieving personal growth together. Our courses range from high-energy activities like Martial Arts and Hunting & Fishing, to creative expression in N3rd-Culture, and practical life skills in our supported living program.

Real, Local Food — All-Inclusive

We are passionate about clean, wholesome, and nutritious food. We use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and serve four daily meals to fuel your active days. Everyone gets equal opportunities: once you enroll, all standard course expenses, as well as study trips in Norway and abroad, are fully covered in your tuition fees.

A Close-Knit Community

You’ll live in smaller residence houses with 9 to 18 students, sharing a living room and kitchen. This is where real folk high school life happens — through conversations, board games, cooking together, and everyday moments.

Welcome to a year with your feet planted firmly on the ground and a mind full of new perspectives!
