    Push your limits in the Arctic wilderness! Feel the freezing temperatures and the frost in your hair. Master outdoor routines. Experience the rugged national parks of the North.

    Join us for epic adventures in Northern Norway’s rugged wilderness!

    Sleep under the open sky, or in *lavvos* (Sami-style tents), log cabins, and tents. We head out on trips roughly every three weeks—sometimes even more often! Most are group excursions, but you will also push your limits on solo trips.

    You will gain extensive outdoor experience throughout the year—and no prior knowledge is required!

    Untouched nature awaits...

    This course is perfect for those who want to live off and with nature. What happens if you fall through the ice or get caught in an avalanche? You will learn about safe mountain travel and how to take responsibility for yourself and your tent team. As our instructor BT says: Thoroughness ensures safety!

    Bli med på en arktisk vandring i Svalbards villmark. Ved månedskifte mars/april reiser Friluftsliv Nordkalotten til Svalbard. Der skal vi vandre i snøkledde daler mellom majestetiske fjell. Her skal vi smake på ekspedisjons livet samtidig som vi får utforske gamle, forlatte gruvesamfunn. Vi kommer tett innpå Svalbards dyreliv: rein, rype og polarrev er blant dyrene vi kan forvente å se i løpet av turen.

    På skolens fellesturer blandes alle elevene fra de ulike linjene sammen og danner teltlag på tvers av årskurs. Dette bidrar til at alle blir kjent med hverandre og skaper trygghet, vennskap og gode relasjoner.

    Vi har fire fellesturer. Den første har vi rett etter skolestart. Da drar vi på fells telttur i vår egen bakgård!

    Den andre handeler om hvalsafari, og der må vi tilpasse oss hvor hvalene er. Vi bruker da seilbåten vår for å dra ut å oppleve disse fantastiske dyrene på nært hold.

    Den tredje er mørketidsturen vår hvor vi lager leir ute, og hvor vi ofte får oppleve vårt fantastiske nordlys.

    Siste turen er avslutningsturen på våren som går til Bjorelvnes, hvor vi har fokus på kystkultur. 

    Oppdrag Arnøya

    Vi drar til Arnøya i Nord-Troms for å oppleve en vill og rå kystnatur. Her blir det jakt, turer, foredag og gode opplevelser. Arnøya har en heftig historie og natur. Og ikke langt unna - utenfor Skjervøy har det de siste årene vært et eldorado for spekkhoggere og knølhval. Der silda går inn kommer hvalen etter. Er vi heldig kan vi ta seilbåten og se hva vi finner. 

    Mørketidstur

    I mørketida, i begynnelsen av desember drar hele skolen på fellestur her i Malangen. Her ligger vi i fellesleir i telt. Vi fyrer bål og nyter nordlyset og stjernehimmelen gjennom mørketidsnatten.

    Vi drar ut på tur allerede andre uka! Hele skolen drar sammen, og hvordan kan man bli bedre kjent enn på tur sammen? Vi pakker sekken og starter turen fra skolen. Vi er heldige som har fantastiske turområder i vår egen bakgård! Hundene våre er selvsagt også med på tur. 

    Camp Bjorelvnes

    På tampen av skoleåret flytter vi hele skolen til Gisundet og Bjorelvnes  i Lenvik kommune. Her bor vi i rorbuer og nyter den nord-norske våren, seiler Nordlandsbåter, bader, fisker og mimrer om året som har gått.

    Malangen Folk High School is beautifully situated between the sea and mountains. 

    We have nature right outside the door, and around us we have some of Northern Norway's largest areas of raw wilderness.  Specializing in the arctic outdoors, we want to give our students an experience-filled year. Our programs are unique, and we focus on joy, courage and respect.

    We have our own dog kennel which is run by the students, our own sailing boat Klara and full packing for the wildest wilderness trips. We provide all common equipment. You only need your own personal equipment and clothing.

    The main building is surrounded by a large outdoor area with the lake, stables, dog kennel, running yard - and close by is a bonfire and boathouse on the shore. You can fill your time with wonderful experiences such as deep-sea fishing, hunting, berry picking, hiking and overnight stays in our local area. We give you unique experiences through the changing seasons, and encourage the student to be outside a lot. 

    You will live in a boarding house with students from the various classes, and we will eat breakfast, dinner and supper together in the dining hall in the main building. Here you can also be social together, relax with knitting, music, sit by the fireplace or disappear into an exciting wilderness book.

    We build up your outdoor skills, and together with you we help you realize your potential. You get to know yourself, and will experience mastery in the face of nature.  Here we quickly get to know each other well and trust each other.

    We offer great nature experiences in the heart of Troms! There are many possibilities here! The small school with big opportunities!
