Do you have a soft spot for animals – or dream of working with them in the future? Then you’re in the right place!
In our Animal Care program, you’ll spend a year up close with animals from around the world – together with people who share your passion. You’ll gain hands-on experience with everything from farm animals to exotic species. Learn animal welfare, care, and handling – skills you’ll take with you for life!
What you’ll experience:
- Behind-the-scenes at Kristiansand Zoo – help care for the animals
- Dog sledding in the snow
- Study trip to Denmark – aquarium and zoo visits
- Care for rabbits, horses, and reptiles
- Sheep herding, lambing, and slaughter at local farms
- Kennel visits and dog training
- Learn about endangered species, animal welfare, and how climate change affects wildlife
- Explore the physical and mental benefits of being around animals
From zoo life to farm life
You’ll visit Kristiansand Zoo multiple times and learn what it’s really like to work with animals. Your teacher has years of experience as a zookeeper there – a unique opportunity to learn from someone who’s lived it!
Our closest neighbor is Happy Huskies, home to over ten sled dogs. We’ll also visit local farms and join in seasonal activities like sheep gathering.
A year of personal growth
This will be a year to grow – through shared experiences with animals and each other. We focus on creating a safe, supportive environment full of memories, learning, and joy.
