It’s skiing all day! We live together in our own house, cook meals as a group, and hang out in the living room in the evenings.
Japow! Why has it become a term? From December to February, Japan gets cold winds from Siberia, and when these meet moisture in the air, it falls as powder snow in the Japanese Alps. Expressions like champagne snow or feather-light powder are often used. We rent a house in the Hakuba Valley. Right outside the door, we look up at Mount Karamatsu-Dake, standing 2,696 meters tall. On the lower slopes, we usually find plenty of fun tree runs, where the annual Freeride World Tour is also held. Maybe we’ll be in the audience, cheering for your favorite rider through binoculars at the bottom of the valley!
Hakuba consists of many small and large resorts, with Cortina at the top of the valley being one of the world’s most famous powder destinations.
The trip is optional for full-year students, but we highly recommend joining. For half-year students, the trip is mandatory.
