På folkehøgskolen får du en unik mulighet til å få undervisning i tegnspråk og samtidig praktisere språket hver dag også utenom undervisningstimene.
Kunnskap og ferdigheter du tilegner deg gjennom skoleåret vil gi deg et godt grunnlag for å søke videre på utdanning som tegnspråktolk.
I alle utdanningsløp og yrker vil det være positivt å kunne tegnspråk.
Du vil også ha et fortrinn om du søker arbeid på steder der tegnspråk brukes i kommunikasjon på arbeidsplassen.

Ål Folk High School is heading to the United States in the 2026–2027 school year! On this trip, we will visit New York and Washington, D.C. The highlight is Gallaudet University — the world’s only university for the Deaf!
This is a unique opportunity to experience American culture, big-city life, and American Sign Language. We will explore and learn about the living conditions of Deaf people in the U.S., the rights they have, and how the situation has developed in recent years. Ål Folk High School offers full-year courses for deaf and hearing signers from all over the world! Our students comes from a wide range of countries from all five continents! We have had students from Madagascar, Iran, India, Chile, Venezuela, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Australia, the USA and many other countries. The only Folk High School for deaf people in Norway, the Ål folkehøyskole and Conference Center for Deaf People is a national resource center in the field of Sign Language and Deaf Studies.
