This course is for you who wish to travel a lot, for a long time and with meaning. We dream in advance, we live along the way - and we see the change best afterwards.

Meaningful travel is important to us at Stavern folkehøyskole. The flagship is the study tour for our course Discover Africa & Europe.

This trip lasts 4-5 weeks, and goes to Tanzania and Kenya. Here we offer a perspective-on-life guarantee, with a guarantee for sun and heat, and tears and laughter. Being on a long trip together creates a unique bond - and you get memories that can be shared with good friends for the rest of your life.

In Tanzania, we collaborate with Nortaz Safari and Haydom Hospital. In Kenya, we promise you a very special experience as a budding researcher during our stay at the Marich Pass Field Study Center. Of course, we will also visit one of the world's best Safari parks, and have a few days of sun, warmth and unique coastal culture in Zanzibar.

Study trip no. 2 is a proper Backpacker trip in Europe. Here it's all about traveling sustainably and cheaply. Backpacking is about as much as possible for as little as possible.

At Discover Africa & Europe, you will have experiences you won't get anywhere else in the world, and maybe not for the rest of your life either!

In Tanzania, we collaborate with Nortaz Safari and Haydom Hospital. In Tanzania we can choose between some of Africa's best safari parks and out by the Indian Ocean we find Zanzibar with its exotic beaches.

In Kenya, we promise you a very special experience as a budding researcher during your stay at the Marich Pass Field Study Center.

Human encounters and insights into other living conditions and a different culture help to give new perspectives on life.

Studietur nr. 2 er som nevnt en skikkelig backpackertur i Europa som elevene får være med på å velge destinasjonen.

Til denne turen ligger et grunnbeløp i linjekostnadene, men kanskje klarer klassen å tjene noe ekstra for å reise litt lenger, bo litt bedre, spise litt bedre? Uansett destiansjon, så vil turen være med på å skape minner og opplevelser du vil leve lenge på, og det vil være mye læring i å planlegge turen, skaffe penger og få mest mulig ut av det vi har til rådighet.

 Ps! Uansett om vi kommer kort eller langt, spiser havregrøt eller 5-retters, så blir dette en skikkelig annerledes og unik opplevelse!

Here you can strengthen your interests, learn something new, become more confident in who you are and what you want in life.

Through courses of high professional quality, a large and varied menu of electives as well as a very good school environment, we give you the folk high school year you dream of.

The school has a versatile school facility in pleasant surroundings near the sea. Teaching rooms, workshops and special rooms are also at your disposal outside of teaching hours. Large gymnasium, football and beach volleyball court, theater stage/black box, rehearsal room and studio. All this is surrounded by a large outdoor area with park facilities.

In the evenings you can partake in games, sports and several other activities.
