Admissions
You can apply from 1 October. We begin offering places on 15 November, so if you apply before this date, you will receive a response from 15 November onwards. Folk high schools continue to admit students until the start of the school year, so you can submit your application at any time. However, the earlier you apply, the better your chances of being offered a place.
The minimum age for admission is normally 18, but younger applicants may also be considered. As part of the admissions process, we carry out an overall assessment, with an emphasis on creating balanced student groups that provide a good foundation for learning and well-being.
All our courses are open to everyone. However, some courses include activities that may place particular demands on participants, for example in connection with travel, physical activity or the level of support required. Some courses offer a higher level of support than others, including in terms of staffing and resources. If you are unsure whether a course is suitable for you, we recommend contacting us. We will be happy to answer your questions and discuss what adjustments and support may be available.
Students who require additional support or adjustments are encouraged to apply as early as possible, so that we have sufficient time to plan and prepare.
Admission for students requiring additional support
Some students apply for a place based on their need for additional support. This applies to students who require extra assistance or adjustments during the school day. Applications can be submitted from 1 October, and we begin offering places on 15 November.
Lundheim Folk High School has a limited number of places for students requiring additional support. To ensure a safe and positive school environment for everyone, and to make sure that we can provide each student with appropriate and responsible support, these places are allocated according to a distribution model. This means that we aim to create a balanced student group with different types and levels of support needs.
When applying for admission based on additional support needs, we ask you to provide documentation, such as a medical certificate or a statement from another relevant professional, describing your diagnosis and/or support needs. We use this documentation to assess:
- whether we can offer you a safe, appropriate and well-adapted school year
- how places can best be allocated to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for everyone
To provide you with a safe and positive school year, it is important that we receive as much information as possible about your needs when you apply. The more we know, the better we can plan and make the necessary arrangements in advance.
For example, it may be helpful for us to know whether you use assistive equipment, take medication, require support in your daily life or need other adjustments. All information is treated confidentially and is used only to ensure that we can provide you with the best possible support from your first day.
If, based on the documentation provided, we determine that we are unable to offer an educational and social programme that meets your needs appropriately, we may unfortunately be unable to offer you a place.
Applications are processed in accordance with our admissions regulations and the provisions of the Norwegian Public Administration Act concerning individual administrative decisions.
Prioritisation of applicants when places are limited
If we have more qualified applicants than available places, applicants will be prioritised based on relevant and objective considerations. These may include:
- the distribution of students across the different courses and the number of places available on each course
- the staffing capacity and resources available on the course applied for
- the applicant’s support needs and the school’s ability to provide appropriate and responsible support
- the overall composition of the student body, to ensure a safe and inclusive school environment
Applicants are prioritised by the school’s admissions team and management in accordance with our admissions regulations and the provisions of the Norwegian Public Administration Act concerning individual administrative decisions.
Admissions process
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive confirmation that we have received it. We will then review your application and contact you if we need any additional information.
Once your application has been processed, you will receive either an offer of admission or a rejection. If you are offered a place, you must respond by the deadline stated in the offer letter. The response deadline is normally 10 days.
We begin offering places on 15 November and continue to admit students for as long as places are available. We therefore recommend applying early.
The Christian folk high schools are built on Christian values. They are owned by, or associated with, Christian organizations or denominations. They encourage students with different interests and beliefs to apply.
