Focus Europe is the line for you who want to get to know and experience the best Europe has to offer. Sights, history, young people in Europe and cultural differences. We go on interrail and island ho

This year you will get to know our own continent Europe better!

Focus on European history and culture

We learn about and discuss historical retrospectives and current challenges facing Europe

We get to know each other well and form friendships through varied and social activities

We choose an aid project that we work on ahead of the trip, and which we can visit on the trip

We work practically with growing in and harvesting the school's vegetable garden

There will be a good mix between theory and practice

Interrail and island hopping: The destinations vary from year to year. In 22/23 we are going to Albania, North Macedonia and Greece. Later, we will take the Orient Express which will end in Istanbul.

Together we will plan our own European adventure!

We will travel by public transport- something that is better for the environment and will enrich us with impressions and experiences along the way

We will meet people who dream of a better future

And we will enjoy  days on the beach or snorkelling in the azure blue sea

Remember that Karmøy Folkehøgskule is the school where you choose 2 subjects. Det legges opp til en spennede interrail fra Roma til Athen og avsluttes med øyhopping til nydelige greske øyene. Elevene er med og bestemme reiserute og stoppesteder. Årets elever (reisen 2022) har valgt følgende reiserute:

  • Roma
  • Firence
  • Venecia
  • Zagreb
  • Budapest
  • Beorgrad
  • Sofia
  • Tessaloniki
  • Skiatos og Skopoles
  • Volos
  • Athen

I tillegg reiser de på langweekend høsten 2021 til Paris.

Da vi har spennende utenlandsturer på begge linjene du som elev går på, har vi valgt å legge fellesturene til vakre og spennende omgivelser i Norge.
Foruten flere felles skoleturer setter vi også av tid til fellesarrangementer som konserter, kinoforestillinger, seminar og foredrag utenfor skolens område.

Foruten alle skolens linjeturer til innland- og utland ser vi for oss en felles skoletur til Preikestolen og Stavanger. Skolen ønsker også at våre elever får delta på lokale kulturelle arrangement i skolens nærmiljø, dvs på Haugalandet. Dette er feks spennende konserter, kinoforestillinger, teater mm.

  • Food pleasure including a trip to Toscana in Italy
  • “Friluftsliv” Sea including a trip to Croatia with diving classes and island hopping with 2 sailboats
  • BRO Africa including a trip to Kenya
  • BRO South America including a trip to Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru
  • Music Performance Production including a trip to New York
  • Travel & Italian including a trips Italia and several other countries in Europe choose by the student.
  • PULS Sports & Training including a trip to a training camp in Lanzarote
  • Focus Europe including an interrail trip and visiting different island in Norway and the Mediterranean

B-Subjects

  • Multisport including a trip to Thailand
  • Focus Asia including a trip to Tokyo and Kyoto Japan
  • “Frilufsliv” Extreme including a trip to the Alps
  • Bakery & Pastry making including a trip to Paris and Brussel
  • Vocal & Performance including a trip to New York
  • Clothing Fashion Design/Redesign including a trip to London and Paris
  • Backpack Photo including a trip to New Zealand
  • Explore Svalbard & Norway including a trip to Svalbard and around trip in the western part of Norway

Subjects has the Norwegian word “Friluftsliv” in the title.  The meaning of this word is: «physical activity in open spaces during leisure time to experience diverse natural environments and foster experiences of nature»

BRO is the shortness of Bistand, Reise and Oppdrag and can direct translate to Aid, Travel and Assignment.

In addition to the subject, you can choose between several different electives as:

Norwegian, Soccer, Film, Photo, PR, Guitar, Knitting, Baking, Food making, Sewing, different training programs, choir, teambuilding, Volleyball, Multisport, Dans and much more.

All the students must take part one hour in social studies, gymnastics and choir each week.
